Peer Mentor scheme

With the support of  Buckinghamshire Mind, we have been running a peer mentoring service at our school for the last 4 years.  Mind visit us each year to train 15 of our year 5 pupils so that they can be peer mentors when they are in year 6.

The mentors are trained in aspects of mental health awareness and the training includes an awareness of safeguarding as well communication and listening skills.  At Haddenham our peer mentors then help to run our indoor zone during lunchtimes, where they lead mindfulness, play games or just be a friendly listening ear.  They run a drop in counselling service and act as playground buddies to younger children.  We are very proud of our peer mentors and think they are fantastic ambassadors for our school.
Recently Mind came to film them at work and their video can be viewed below.
